Mendelson Arrives For Christmas Visit
Gilbert and Sullivan were pleased to welcome their cousin Mendelson to Stewiacke for Christmas. Unlike Gilbert and Sullivan, Mendelson is a quiet chap who likes nothing better than sitting around chatting and eating honey. He loves clothes and was quick to get the manservant working on a sweater for himself and this writer. The results you can see in the picture opposite.
Mendelson has not indicated his future plans but he has settled in quickly in Stewiacke and admits to being appalled at the poor clothing the bears have to wear. He intends to address this matter further with the servants, so I think we can expect to see him around for some time to come

A Poem for 2008
It’s not a bear’s nature to think much ahead,
We’re all just as happy to nap on the bed.
But as we lie dreaming of pots full of honey,
Let’s not forget servants out working for money.
And hope they’re not slacking as oft is their habit,
Or Don will be sending out Jimmy the Rabbit.
Let’s hope they are busy and storing up yummy’s,
For when bears awake they must fill up their tummy’s

Chairbear’s Message for 2008
Hello to bears everywhere.
2007 was a good year for domestic bears with the publication of our own charter. The web-site was also put online and efforts are still being made to develop it further. Delays have been experienced due to the unbelievable laziness of the servants, but hopefully they will get their acts together for the new year ahead.
As your council chairbear I can say with some satisfaction that my leadership has brought about great changes in the lives of bears in general, and I hope through greater delegation to ensure the successes of 2007 extend into this new year.
Have fun, nap frequently and eat honey.
