About the Cuddly Council

The council had its beginnings in 2004 during the time I was writing my book Letters From Home. I, and the other bears, had become more aware at that time, that the humans we live with were actually quite undisciplined and bizarre in their behaviour, and as a result, bears were being short changed by not receiving their basic rights.

At the centre of this issue was the human's misconception that they were "In Charge." This was at loggerheads with the council's viewpoint that
a)Humans are so disorganized that anyone with a brain could see that they couldn't take charge of anything, and
b)The purpose of humans was to act as servants to bears who were by their nature and breeding, smarter, more coherent and infinitely better looking.

The road to recognition for bears has been a troubled one. Attempts to negotiate with the servants has been problematic because of their short attention spans and limited intelligence. Nevertheless, we have made some progress and this site represents our efforts to date.

Through the links on this site you can find out about other bears, read a draft of the Bears Charter, correspond with the council members and other bears, even become a charter member and contribute to the ongoing goal of establishing basic rights for domestic bears worldwide, and establish a collective of bears so we can get honey at discount prices.
